Tullamore is host to many local and national events through the year. These are just a few of the bigger attractions that have taken place.

 

Cosmos Star Party
This is Ireland's only Springtime National Astronomical event, and one of only 3 held annualy in the country. Hosted each year by the Midlands Astronomy Club (formerly the Tullamore Astronomical Society), it draws in people from all over the country, taking place in Annaharvey Equestrian Farm. Talks by renowned speakers, exhibits & displays, astronomical observing, and loads more. [Official website]

Offaly Fleadh Ceoil
County Compettions & Finals taking place in Killina over the course of the weekend. Dancing, music, story telling, and craft competitions, in many junior categories. Part of the festivities include marquee sessions where musicians, singers, and dancers come together. Some of the winners from this competition will go forward to the National Fleadh Ceoil in August. Phoenix Festival
First held in the summer of 2000 due to the cancellation of the Tullamore Agricultural Show because of the foot and mouth epidemic, it was to fill the void since the Show would not go on, and thus the town would not have a summertime attraction. Since the ban was lifted the following year, the Phoenix Festival continued, allowing Tullamore to host 2 summer festivals. Street entertainment, live concerts, activities, exhibits, carft and art fairs, and much more. [Official website]

National Livestock & Agricultural Show
The AIB National Livestock Show is the biggest agricultural show every year. In 2009 it moved from the Charleville Estate to the grounds of the Butterfield Estate, Greatwood near Blueball (6 miles south of Tullamore), and hosts everything from livestock to farming, crafts to food, family fun to entertainment. In excess of 80,000 visitors are expected on the day.[Official website]

Fleadh Ceoil na hEireann
Irish  festival of music, song and dance ever, with over 200,000 visitors from all over the world, during this week-long cultural celebration. "The Fleadh" is the largest showcase of musicians and performers to take place ever and includes concerts, céilithe, parades, pageants, with over 10,000 performers expected to take part in the 'Feast of Irish Music', including many from the UK and further afield.
